Bone Builders

Without a summer school lunch program, many kids could go hungry. During the summer of 2002 the Food Bank collected used backpacks and filled each one with about 5 pounds of kid-friendly snacks - juice, fruit and granola bars.

Kids picked up backpacks at the Food Bank and Joel's Place, a faith-based youth center. Together Joel's Place and the Food Bank were able to give backpacks to 143 children.

Unfortunately the Tanana Valley region's childrens' need for a supplemental summer food program has not diminished. Since the Bone Builders program was such a success in 2002 is has been brought back for the summer of 2003.

Quota Club donates $350 to the Bone Builders program
Quota Club generously gave $350 to purchase protein items for the Bone Builders project in Summer of 2003. That buys a lot of Vienna Sausage. Thanks, Quota Club, for supporting this program for local children.
